🦊About Crash Bandicoot

1996PlayStation (PSX)Naughty DogPlatformerActionRetro / PS1

Crash Bandicoot is the original 1996 PlayStation platformer that turned a genetically enhanced marsupial into a household name. You play as Crash, racing across three island worlds to rescue Tawna and stop the maniacal Doctor Neo Cortex from completing his Cortex Vortex experiments.

What makes Crash special is its 'into-the-screen' camera. Instead of a traditional 2D side-scroller, levels send you running directly toward the horizon, dodging traps that telegraph just enough warning to be fair but rarely forgiving. Add boulder chases, jungle bridges, beach runs and Hog Wild rides, and you have one of the most iconic platformers of the 32-bit era.

On Friendly Game Hub, Crash Bandicoot runs in your browser through a JavaScript PlayStation emulator. There is no download, no install and no account — boot the page, hit Start, and you are dropped on N. Sanity Beach in seconds.

How to play Crash Bandicoot

  1. 01Wait for the BIOS and the Naughty Dog logo to finish, then press Enter to access the main menu.
  2. 02Choose 'New Game' and pick a save slot.
  3. 03Use the arrow keys to walk and Z to jump. Press X to spin attack — it breaks crates and stuns most enemies.
  4. 04Collect Wumpa Fruit. Every 100 Wumpa = one extra life.
  5. 05Break every crate in a level for the gem at the end. Die once and the gem is forfeit, so play clean.
  6. 06Reach the end-of-level marker to save your progress to the slot.

Tips and tricks

  • Spin first, ask questions later — most enemies die in one spin, and it deflects projectiles.
  • The shadow under Crash tells you exactly where you'll land. Use it on bridge gaps.
  • Aku Aku masks stack up to three. With two masks active you become temporarily invincible.
  • If a level feels brutal (looking at you, 'The High Road'), grind extra lives on early stages first.
  • Boulder levels reward holding forward and trusting the path — hesitation gets you flattened.

Frequently asked questions

Is Crash Bandicoot really free to play here?

Yes. The game runs entirely in your browser through an embedded PlayStation emulator. There is no download, no sign-up and no payment.

Can I save my progress?

Save inside the game using the in-level password / save points. Browser-based emulator save state may not persist between sessions, so write down passwords for long sessions.

Why is the game running slowly?

The PSX emulator is JavaScript-based. Close other tabs, switch to a Chromium-based browser and use a desktop machine for the smoothest experience.

Does it work on mobile?

It loads on phones, but PSX-style platformers really need a keyboard or gamepad. We strongly recommend desktop for Crash.
